Stress is a part of life and sometimes it starts at the moment you open your eyes to the moment you close them. Today I could feel my neck and back muscles tighten with every second as the day went on and all I could think about was soaking in a hot bath to ease the tension. When the time finally came to soak away my troubles my mind began to think about the many uses of water.
We use water to cleanse ourselves of dirt, bacteria, and other unclean things. Hot water can relieve tension and pain. Steam can clear sinuses and help you sweat out toxins. Cold water can quench your thirst and cool you from overheating. Ice can reduce swelling and help relieve pain. Water is used to clean dishes, laundry, and your home to provide a healthy environment. It is used for cooking, coffee, and tea (the simple pleasures in life).
It makes the grass, flowers, and garden grow. Rain cleans the outdoors, floods the creeks and rivers to remove the old and make room for the new to grow. Water is healing in so many ways! I can understand why Jesus said he is the living water.
Jesus answered the Samaritan woman at the well and said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13–14 NIV.
Water on earth must be replenished but the water Jesus offers is eternal. The earthly water has many benefits for our earthly bodies but Jesus, the living water is what cleanses our hearts, minds, and souls. Science says water comes in three forms but I know it comes in four; solid, liquid, vapor, and Jesus our lord and savior.
