Enjoy the Moment

“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

— Isaiah 60:22

The other day, I took my dog Charlie for a walk, and I couldn’t help but stop and take in all of God’s beauty around me. The way the sun shined through the clouds, the fresh smell of mountain air, and the birds singing all around—it felt like something out of a fairy tale. I stood in the driveway in disbelief, overwhelmed with gratitude that this is my life.

But as I tried to enjoy the moment, Charlie was constantly pulling at the end of his leash. No matter how far we walked, he was always ready to go farther—never satisfied with where we were or how much freedom he was given.

It made me think about how often we do the same thing with God.

How many times does God answer our prayers, provide exactly what we asked for, and yet instead of pausing to enjoy the moment, we immediately move on to the next request? We rush ahead, always looking forward, rarely stopping to praise Him for what He has already done.

Every breath we take is a prayer answered. Yet breathing becomes so natural that we forget what a gift it truly is.

It’s the small things that lead up to the big things. The breath in your lungs. The ability to walk, to pick things up, to speak, to see. These are blessings unfolding every single day.

Let us not be like Charlie—always pulling forward, choking ourselves at the end of the leash, missing the beauty of where we are right now. Instead, let us trust God’s timing, rest in His provision, and learn to fully enjoy the season we’re in.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessings I often take for granted. Help me to slow down and recognize Your hand in every detail of my life. Teach me to trust Your timing and to find joy in the season I’m in, rather than always rushing ahead. May my heart remain grateful, and my spirit attentive to Your presence each day. In Jesus name, Amen. 🙏
