“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
— Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
Clutter is something we often overlook, yet it quietly steals our focus. By definition, clutter is something crowded or untidy, but it doesn’t just live in our homes. It can creep into our schedules, our thoughts, and even our hearts.
When life becomes overcrowded, our attention slowly shifts from God to the demands and noise of the world.
When the calendar fills faster than the sink full of dirty dishes, it’s often a sign that something needs to change. The enemy doesn’t need dramatic tactics, sometimes all it takes is constant busyness and mental clutter to keep us from opening our Bible or whispering a simple prayer.
But when we intentionally make time for God, something beautiful happens. The noise begins to fade. The pressure eases. We’re reminded that we were never meant to carry everything alone.
God invites us to give Him the first part of our day, trusting the Master Organizer to reorder what feels chaotic. As we lift our eyes above the mess, He brings clarity, peace, and purpose back into view.
Ask yourself, “What area in my life feels the most cluttered right now?” Tell God about it, he wants to be part of your life. Yes, he already knows your problems but we have free will and have to choose and ask for his help because God is a gentleman and doesn’t force His will on you.
Lord, I confess that I often allow the clutter of life to distract me from You. Help me to set my mind on things above and not be consumed by the noise of this world. Teach me to give You the first part of my day and trust You with the rest. Organize my heart, my thoughts, and my priorities according to Your will. I lift my eyes to You, knowing You are in control. In Jesus name, Amen.
