I wanted to share my opinion and experience with this food canister I purchased for storing dog food. I was getting aggravated with dog food bags not wanting to stay closed and seal properly. After a few days of opening a new bag the smell wasn’t as fresh and the food would slowly start to smell old.

I have 4 dogs and buy a 36 pound bag of Hills dog food every 2 weeks and I noticed how they seemed to love the food more after it was first opened.

I decided to look for a trash can, tote, or canister to store it in and began searching different options on Amazon. After reading countless reviews and descriptions of different types of enclosed containers I finally decided on this stainless steel food storage canister by Aloxina on Amazon.

What I Love About this Canister:

1. It’s large. It says it fits 40lbs but it fits about 30lbs of our 36lb bag of Hills dog food. I think the size of the food itself might have something to do with how much will fit in the canister.

2. It’s beautiful! I’m happy to have the dog food on display in my kitchen now.

3. It’s food grade stainless steel that is rust resistant, odor free, and keeps the dogs out of the bag.

4. It comes with a beautiful scoop to accurately measure the food.

5. It’s easy to clean and wipe down.

6. It seals very well and has a snap latch keeping food fresh and safe.

I love this canister so much that I’m considering buying two more: One for bulk rice and one for bulk sugar. If you need anything stored and kept fresh I highly recommend this canister!

Side note: after you empty the pet food into a canister take a picture of the product number on the bag just in case there are any recalls on that food.
