“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
Isaiah 30:15 ESV

Feeling behind is part of being human. We fall behind on laundry, dishes, deadlines, and expectations. Life piles up quickly, and before we know it, we’re running in circles—busy, overwhelmed, and unsure of what needs our attention next. We don’t always know what to do; we just know we should be doing something.
There was a moment when I felt ten steps behind everything in my life. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t catch up. Frustration built, not just with my circumstances, but with myself. Finally, I stopped. Right there in the middle of the chaos, I asked God for help.
I sat in silence, waiting for the Holy Spirit to answer—waiting for clarity, direction, or even a whisper. But nothing came. At first, I wondered why God was silent. Had I missed something? Was I not listening closely enough?
Then it hit me—the silence was the answer.
God wasn’t calling me to do more. He was calling me to rest. To return to Him. To trust Him in the stillness instead of striving in my own strength.
In a world that praises busyness, God reminds us that our greatest strength is found in quiet trust. When we stop chasing productivity and start resting in His presence, we find the peace and renewal our souls have been craving all along.
Ask yourself…
1. Where in your life do you feel the most behind or overwhelmed right now?
2.How do you typically respond when life feels chaotic—do you rush to act or pause to pray?
3. What might God be inviting you to lay down so you can rest and trust Him more fully?
4. How can you intentionally create moments of quietness with God this week?
Dear Lord, I come to You tired, overwhelmed, and longing for peace. Help me to stop striving and return to You. Teach me to trust You in the quiet moments and to recognize that rest is not weakness, but strength found in You. When the world feels loud and demanding, draw my heart back to stillness in Your presence. Renew my mind, restore my soul, and remind me that You are always at work, even when I am still. In Jesus name, Amen.
