Standing Strong Devotional: Putting On the Armor of God in Everyday Life (Ephesians 6:11)

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 ESV

While trying to clean the house today, it felt a little chaotic, the dogs were restless, and my heart grew tired. I continued to push through my chores when finally I stopped and asked God for the strength to keep going.

I heard the Holy Spirit say: “Put on your armor and keep going.”

Life doesn’t always come at us gently.

But as believers, we are not called to face it unprepared.

God never asked us to walk through life relying on our own strength. Instead, He lovingly equips us with something far greater—His armor.

Not partial armor.

Not occasional protection.

But the full armor of God.

What Does It Mean to Put On the Armor?

Putting on the armor of God isn’t about perfection—it’s about preparation.

It’s a daily choice to clothe yourself in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.

When you:

•Speak truth over your life

•Choose obedience even when it’s hard

•Walk in peace instead of anxiety

•Trust God instead of your fears

…you are actively putting on His armor.

And suddenly, the battles don’t feel quite so overwhelming.

You Are Not Fighting Alone.

It’s easy to forget, in the middle of everyday life, that there is more going on than what we can see.

The enemy would love nothing more than for you to feel:

•Defeated

•Unworthy

•Overwhelmed

•Alone

But that is not your identity.

•You are a child of the Living God.

•You are chosen.

•You are covered.

•You are equipped.

And because of that—you are able to stand firm, even on the hardest days.

Putting on the armor of God isn’t just for big, dramatic battles.

It’s for:

•The quiet frustration while washing the dishes

•The patience needed in parenthood

•The strength to choose kindness in your marriage

•The discipline to keep going when you feel unseen

This is where faith is lived out—in the ordinary.

And this is where God meets you, strengthening you in ways you may not even realize.

A Gentle Reminder:

•You don’t have to be stronger.

•You don’t have to have it all together.

You simply have to be willing to put on what God has already provided.

•His strength.

•His truth.

•His peace.

Every single day.

Reflection Questions:

1. Which piece of God’s armor do you feel you need most right now?

2. What would it look like to intentionally “put it on” today?

3. Where in your daily life is God asking you to stand firm?

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for not leaving me to face life on my own. Thank You for giving me Your armor—everything I need to stand strong in the middle of life’s challenges. Help me to put it on daily. Remind me to walk in Your truth when I feel discouraged. Give me peace when my heart feels anxious. Strengthen my faith when I feel weak. Lord, help me remember that I am Your child—chosen, loved, and protected. No matter what comes my way today, let me stand firm in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
