One Day at a Time

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Psalm 46:1 NLT

Living with health problems can feel exhausting in every way — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Since I was 17 years old, I’ve faced many health struggles, and one thing I’ve learned through every hard season is this: no matter how bad it gets, God never leaves your side.

There were days when I wanted answers, healing, and strength all at once. Days when I wondered how I could keep going when my body felt weak and my heart felt tired. But over time, God gently reminded me that I didn’t have to overcome every problem all at once. I just had to make it through one day at a time with Him.

Sometimes we put pressure on ourselves to be strong enough for tomorrow, next week, or the future. But God only asks us to trust Him for today. His grace is enough for this moment. His strength is enough for today’s battle. And when tomorrow comes, He will still be there.

Health struggles may change parts of your life, but they do not change God’s love for you. Pain does not mean abandonment. Weakness does not mean failure. Even in the hardest moments, God walks beside us, carrying us when we feel like we cannot take another step.

You may not be able to control every diagnosis, symptom, or setback, but with God, you can face each day with hope. Not because life is easy, but because He is faithful.

One day at a time. One prayer at a time. One step at a time. With God, it is possible.

Reflection Questions:

1. What is one way God has carried you through a difficult season?

2. Are you trying to handle tomorrow’s worries instead of trusting God for today?

3. How can you lean on God’s strength instead of your own this week?

4. What encouragement can your story give to someone else who is struggling?

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being near to us in every difficult moment. Thank You for never leaving our side, even when life feels overwhelming. For those struggling with health problems today, bring comfort, strength, peace, and hope. Remind us that we do not have to face every battle at once — only one day at a time with You. Help us trust You when we feel weak and rest in the truth that Your grace is enough. Use our stories to encourage others and draw us closer to You through every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
