“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

All winter long, I’ve waited for spring.
Last night, I stepped out onto my porch and heard the frogs peeping for the first time this year. It’s one of my favorite parts of country life; the sound of God’s orchestra playing right outside my windows. That tiny chorus feels like a promise: winter doesn’t last forever.
Scripture reminds us in the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 that there is a time for everything. A season for every activity under heaven. A season for blooming… and a season for barrenness. A season for rejoicing… and a season for enduring.
The troubles we face can feel like a long, cold winter, dark, heavy, and still. But God’s grace is like the warmth of spring. His love gently thaws what has grown cold in our hearts. What once felt lifeless begins to soften. What seemed barren becomes fertile ground for new growth.
Winter has a purpose. It strengthens roots. It clears away what cannot survive. And when spring comes, the growth is deeper and stronger than before.
If you’re in a winter season right now, don’t lose heart. The frogs will sing again. The sun will feel warm again. God is already preparing your spring.
Open your heart to Him. Give Him your troubles to thaw. Trust that He is working beneath the surface, even when everything looks still.
There is a time for everything and your season of renewal will come.
Ask yourself…
1. What has this season been teaching you?
2. Is there something in your heart that feels cold or hardened?
3. What would it look like to surrender that area to God today?
4. Where have you seen small signs of “spring” beginning in your life?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for being Lord over every season of my life. When I feel stuck in winter, remind me that You are still working beneath the surface. Soften the places in my heart that have grown cold from hurt, disappointment, or fear. Help me trust that this season has purpose. Give me patience to endure and faith to believe that spring is coming. Thaw my worries with Your grace. Plant new growth where there once was discouragement. And teach me to listen for Your gentle reminders of hope; like frogs singing in the night. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
