Eternity Is Real: A Christian Devotional on Hell, Repentance & Salvation

“and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

Revelation 20:10 ESV

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but there is nothing on this earth worth going to hell for.

The enemy has always been a deceiver. Scripture tells us he disguises himself, twists truth, and preys on pride. Before his fall, Lucifer was created beautiful but pride overtook him. He didn’t just want to serve God; he wanted to be God. And that rebellion cost him everything.

Now he does what he has always done, he lies.

He whispers promises of happiness without holiness. Success without surrender. Pleasure without consequence. But it is all an illusion.

The enemy does not love you. He does not care about your future. He does not want your freedom; he wants your destruction. He knows his fate (Revelation 20:10), and he wants to take as many souls with him as possible. His strategy is simple: distort truth, normalize sin, minimize eternity.

There is nothing he offers that compares to what God promises.

Sin may feel good for a moment, but it separates us from the One who gives life. The most loving warning we can hear is this: repent. Turn around. Walk away from the lie before it hardens your heart.

God does not call us to repentance to shame us, He calls us to repentance to save us.

2 Peter 3:9 (ESV) says:

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

The enemy wants to hurt you to spite God.

But God sent His Son to save you because He loves you.

Today, choose truth.

Choose surrender.

Choose life.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Turn from sin. Let Him guide you. Eternity is real and heaven is worth everything on this earth.

Ask yourself…

1. Is there an area of my life where I’ve believed a lie instead of God’s truth?

2. What sin have I been excusing that the Holy Spirit is convicting me about?

3. What would true repentance look like for me today?

4. Do I truly believe eternity is real, and am I living like it is?

Heavenly Father, open my eyes to every lie I have believed. Search my heart and reveal anything that separates me from You. Give me the courage to repent, to turn away from sin, and to walk in obedience. I don’t want temporary pleasure at the cost of eternal life. Strengthen me to resist the enemy and cling to Your truth. Thank You for Your mercy, Your patience, and Your saving grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
