As I was reading this morning I came across this verse in 1 John and I started thinking about all the people on social media that comment things against God and his word.
We feel angry and offended only to remember that those are reactions of our flesh and then the Spirit steps in to remind us there is a spiritual battle going on in the world. We need to fight it in the spirit and not the flesh.
Hebrews 4:12 says,
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
God’s word is a sword used to to fight the spirit of lies and falsehood. We must put on the armor of God when we get out of bed every morning and not fall victim to those in this world.
Ephesians 6:10-17 says,
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Prepare for a spiritual battle and be ready today to fight for God because he already gave everything for us on the cross.
