Living Free Today

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”

Isaiah 43:18 NIV

God gently reminds us not to live chained to what has already happened. The past; whether filled with joy, regret, or pain, has no power over today unless we give it permission. Yesterday is finished, and tomorrow is still in God’s hands. The only place we are called to live is right here, right now.

When we focus too much on the past, we miss the freedom God offers today. When we worry about the future, we forget that God is already there. Faith isn’t about replaying yesterday or stressing over tomorrow, it’s about trusting God with today.

Jesus reassures us of this truth when He says:

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:34 NIV

Today is where healing begins. Today is where obedience matters. Today is where God meets us, walks with us, and gives us the grace we need, one day at a time.

Ask yourself…

1. What past experience am I struggling to let go of?

2. How might focusing on today change my peace and faith?

3. What is one way I can trust God more fully today?

Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of today. Help me release the weight of the past and the worry of the future. Teach me to trust You one day at a time, knowing You are already working ahead of me. Give me peace, clarity, and strength to walk faithfully with You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
