Resting in God’s Peace

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.”

Psalm 4:8 NIV

Some days you spend the entire day exhausted, counting down the hours until bedtime. Yet when your head finally hits the pillow, your mind refuses to rest. Thoughts race, worries resurface, and before you know it, morning comes and the cycle begins again.

Scripture reminds us that rest is deeply connected to peace and trust in the Lord. Psalm 127:2 tells us, “He grants sleep to those he loves.” God never intended for us to live weighed down by constant anxiety or sleepless nights. He invites us to bring every concern, every fear, and every unanswered question to Him, because nothing is too big for His hands or too small for His care.

Tonight, choose to release what you’re carrying. Lay your worries before God and trust that He is at work even while you sleep. He is faithful, He is near, and He lovingly watches over you as you rest.

Heavenly Father, I come to You weary and burdened, carrying the weight of many thoughts and concerns. Forgive me for the times I try to hold everything together on my own instead of trusting You. Tonight, I surrender my worries into Your loving care. Quiet my mind, calm my heart, and cover me with Your peace. Grant me restful sleep so I may rise renewed and ready to glorify You. Thank You for being my safety and my rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
