“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31 NIV

Yesterday I washed the dishes, dusted the furniture, vacuumed the floors, did the laundry, scrubbed the bathroom, and put away the odds and ends that always seem to pile up.
Some might raise an eyebrow at doing all of that in one day. But while I worked, God placed something on my heart that I haven’t been able to shake:
How beautiful is it that my calling is to care for the ones I love?
God entrusted me with the sacred responsibility of creating a safe haven here on earth, a refuge from the outside world. No one should ever dread giving their loved ones clean clothes to wear, a hot meal to eat, or a clean bed to sleep in. What a gift it is to serve in these quiet ways.
Even if your spouse doesn’t notice the dishes neatly stacked in the cabinet…
Even if no one comments on the fresh toilet paper roll…
Even if the dusted ceiling fan goes unseen…
God notices.
Each day is made up of tiny moments. And it’s those tiny moments that build a faithful life.
Fold the towels and thank God for the hands that will use them. Wash the dishes and thank Him for the meal that filled empty stomachs. Sweep the floor and thank Him for the shelter over your head.
It’s not how much you do, it’s the spirit you carry while doing it.
Somewhere, someone is praying for the very life you have right now.
And when you’re exhausted? When you don’t feel like doing one more chore? Remember what Jesus endured on the cross. He carried every sin, every sorrow, every burden, willingly, out of love for you.
Don’t complain.
Pick up the dirty clothes, Jesus picked up the cross.
Wash the dishes, Jesus washed away our sins.
Open the windows and open your heart to Him again.
My lifelong prayer is to become a Proverbs 31 woman, not in perfection, but in faithfulness.
A woman who works with eager hands, speaks with wisdom, fears the Lord, and serves her household with strength and dignity.
Chores are not chains.
They are opportunities to worship.
And even when no one else sees what you do, God does.
Ask yourself…
1. How can I shift my attitude about daily chores from obligation to gratitude?
2. In what small ways can I intentionally invite God into my homemaking this week?
3. Am I seeking recognition from others, or resting in being seen by God?
Lord, Thank You for the gift of my home and the people within it. Forgive me for the moments I complain or grow weary in serving. Help me see my daily tasks as holy work, opportunities to love well and reflect Your heart. Give me strength when I feel tired, gratitude when I feel overlooked, and joy in the small, unseen moments. Shape me into a woman who fears You above all else. Let my hands serve faithfully, my words speak wisdom, and my heart remain soft before You. May my home be a place of peace, safety, and love, all for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
