Why does God make us wait for things? Have you ever wanted something so badly that it almost physically hurt to think about?
I was reading the first chapter in Deuteronomy where Moses is speaking to the Israelites after wandering around the desert for 40 years. An 11 day journey turned into 40 years because they disobeyed God and complained the entire time. Even after God did what they wanted they still found something to complain about and were never satisfied.
So what was God teaching them by making them wait to see the land of milk and honey?
He was teaching them to trust in him and not themselves. To follow his commandments and not their sinful nature. To be grateful where they were and for what they had.
Have you been praying for something and it feels like God hasn’t listened? God listens and wants to give his children everything but usually we stand in our own way and delay his blessings.
How do we get out of our way?
By being obedient to the Lord and not our flesh. He won’t give us what we ask until we’re mature and responsible enough to handle it.
Take a moment to thank God today for unanswered prayers
You don’t know what he has been saving you from. Trust God and obey his word, don’t turn an 11 day journey into a 40 year cycle.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT
