There is no way around it. You have to pay one way or another to have good safe drinking water. I remember buying 2 to 3 packs of the 24 pack or 40 pack bottled water every week. It was one of the things I dreaded about grocery shopping because I have back issues. Lifting the large packs of water in and out of the buggy, to the car, and in the house every week would get to me but we had to have drinking water.
My grocery list is pretty routine so I generally know what the usuals are and how much they cost. I was shocked by how much we spent on bottled drinking water in a year. It was estimated to be over $700 a year! I went by the regular price for my estimate but I always tried to buy and stock up when it was on sale.

Long Lasting Water Filters
The filters are very easy to replace. There are 3 different filters to filter out different things.
- The PP filter lasts up to 6 months before it needs replacing.
- The CT filter lasts up to 12 months before it needs replacing.
- The UF filter lasts up to 24 months before it needs replacing.
Helpful tip… If you don’t hold and press the filter light indicator until it beeps and turns blue after installing a new filter, it will randomly beep until you do. I didn’t do that the first time I replaced one and for 3 days my husband and I couldn’t figure out where the beeping was coming from. Don’t make that mistake! Or you will be checking every smoke detector battery in the house.

Updated Kitchen Faucet

I did have to upgrade my kitchen faucet from a traditional kitchen faucet with sprayer to a faucet with pull down sprayer.
The reason is because I wanted the small drinking water faucet for the water filter to go in the hole where the sprayer was.
You can drill a hole in the counter to make a place for the drinking faucet but I didn’t want that. And I love my new kitchen faucet!
Water Bottle Alternative

I had to think of more alternatives to not having the convenience of prepackaged bottled water. You don’t realize how conditioned you are to everyday conveniences until you try to form new habits.
I don’t drink soda and the only things I drink are coffee, water, and the crystal light packets I add to bottle water. I would purchase these again because the bottle breaking had nothing to do with the product itself.
Using a pitcher for lemonade, tea, and other flavored drinks is a good option. The bottles work better for me simply because I have limited refrigerator space.
