The lights glow with the colors of Christmas all around the tree and the ornaments reflect their shine.
The presents are wrapped neatly beneath the branches waiting for Christmas morning to arrive.
The house smells of gingerbread, the oven has been working nonstop.
Although I love all these things about Christmas, the reason this is not.
About 2,000 years ago a baby was laid in a manger, a baby who would become our savior.
No Christmas trees or decorations, just a star above a stable.
That baby was the only gift needed and He came wrapped in a blanket.
Jesus is the only Christmas light that ever shined from Heaven, a light so bright it made Rudolf’s nose dim.
A gift so big, in Santa’s sleigh it could not fit.
Elves did not make it, a toy it was not.
It was bought and paid for with the blood of that baby because God knew the cost.
Open your heart today to receive God’s gift of grace, and pass it on to all you meet. Although the cost was great, this gift is always free.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 ESV
