The Power Through the Cross

A low buzzing sound was coming from the light turned on above the stove and the refrigerator started humming as the compressor turned on inside. The dryer loudly tumbled the bath towels and the washer started its spin cycle washing blankets and throwing it off balance. The ceiling fan, air purifier, and countless other things made their distinct noises throughout the house.

After several hours of cleaning I turned some things off and finally sat down. The washer and dryer were the last things running and when they stopped, silence fell over the house leaving a moment to ponder the wonders of electricity.

I never thought about how through appliances and electronics we can actually hear and see electricity working. We don’t have to see electricity itself to know the power is there much like not seeing God but feeling his power.

We don’t have to physically see him to know he’s there, we simply have to look at the sunset or listen to the morning birds. We can hear him in the kind words of others and see him through helping hands. He is seen everywhere like in a hot meal, paid bills, and a warm home in winter time.

Our electricity comes through powerlines on poles but God’s power comes through the Spirit on the cross. When we look at these things with the Holy Spirit in our hearts we hear God’s voice in them working. Having electricity to power your home is nice but having God to power your heart is nicer!

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
Romans 1:20
