Walking By Faith: Close Your Eyes and See

I tossed and turned for hours as I tried to find a comfortable position. Finally after trying to fall asleep I got up around 4AM and decided to make some coffee and take the dogs out. I opened the back door and all the dogs rushed to get out like race horses being let out of a shoot.

I walked on the porch and saw God, I saw him in the moon, the clouds, the trees, and the lightning bugs as they flashed against the dark outline of the mountains. Although, seeing his beauty was magical, I closed my eyes and heard him too.

I heard him in the birds singing and the creek running in the distance. I heard him in the wind softly blowing through the trees. I heard him in the playfulness of the dogs running around the pen chasing each other.

As I took the time to take everything in around me, I calmed my mind then realized what God taught me through the difficulties of losing some of my eye sight for many months after a car accident in 2020.

We don’t need our eyes to see. Hebrews 11:1 came to mind, ” Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 KJV.

I realized my faith had been tested and I not only learned to see without my sight, I learned you can see faith with your eyes closed. Faith cannot be seen with worldly eyes but with the eyes of the spirit. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV.

God assures us every day through what we cannot see, we just have to open our spiritual eyes and trust him.

Have you closed your eyes to see God today?
