“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”
Proverbs 19:21 NIV

We often hear the phrase, “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” While it sounds comforting, it isn’t actually found in Scripture. What is true and far more powerful is this: God won’t give you more than He can handle.
God can handle anything. And sometimes, when we reach the end of ourselves, when we’ve exhausted every plan, every backup plan, and every ounce of control; that’s when our faith finally has room to step in. That’s where God moves. That’s where miracles happen.
At times, we create chaos in our lives one decision at a time. And often, the only way we loosen our grip on control is when God allows us to face something we can’t manage on our own. Not to punish us, but to rescue us. To redirect us. To draw us closer.
God sees every choice you make. He hears your plans. He knows your heart. When life feels like the enemy is attacking from every side, pause for a moment. What if it isn’t the devil at all? What if God is protecting you—from the path you were about to take?
Let go of the control you’re trying so hard to hold. Let God take the reins and trust His outcome. You may be amazed at how dramatically life can change when His purpose unfolds and your plans get canceled.
Ask yourself…
- Where in your life are you trying to stay in control instead of trusting God?
- Have you ever experienced a season where God allowed something you couldn’t handle—and later saw how it changed you for the better?
- What plans might you need to surrender today so God’s purpose can prevail?
- How would your peace change if you truly believed God can handle what you cannot?
Heavenly Father, I confess that I often try to control my life instead of trusting You with it. Help me to release my plans, my fears, and my need to understand everything. When I face situations I can’t handle, remind me that You can. Align my heart with Your purpose and give me the faith to follow where You lead. I trust You, Lord, even when the path feels uncertain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
